Why does steel need VCI packaging material?

Steel rusts easily because its main component, iron, is highly chemically reactive in the natural environment. This process is significantly accelerated in high humidity (e.g., relative humidity exceeding 60%), frequent temperature fluctuations, or maritime environments, leading to red or white rust on the steel surface. This not only affects appearance but can also reduce product performance, increasing the risk of rework and customer complaints. CVCI's VCI anti-rust paper continuously releases vapor-phase corrosion-inhibiting molecules within the packaging space, forming a molecular-level protective film on the metal surface, inhibiting oxidation reactions at the source. No oiling or additional cleaning processes are required, providing long-term protection for steel during transportation, warehousing, and export.

Corrosion inhibitors are key to providing durable protective coatings for steel, preventing oxidation from occurring at its source.

How to store VCI paper?

Our VCI paper should be stored in a dry, cool, well-ventilated environment and kept sealed to avoid direct sunlight and moisture. During handling and use, the original packaging bag should be kept from damage to prevent the anti-rust effect. The product has a shelf life of three years from the date of manufacture. The performance is stable during the validity period and is suitable for long-term anti-rust packaging. To ensure the anti-rust effect, it is recommended to seal as soon as possible after using VCI packaging paper, VCI paper, VCI packaging paper for steel or VCI Paper for steel for packaging, and avoid frequent opening and closing to prevent the vapor phase corrosion inhibitor from volatilizing and becoming ineffective.
